  • Answer:

Admissions is based off of a lot of things. I knew a guy who got accepted to MIT, but not University of Washington. Having good grades and extracurricular activities doesn't guarantee anything. Advice: make sure to apply early, and apply to several colleges, and if you don't get into your top choice, don't sweat it. You can go to a different school and apply to transfer the next year.

SAT would be really important. I think you would need to have at least a 2100 to even have some chance at getting considered. Keeping the GPA (by the time you apply) at 3.7 or better is important too. EC is indeed very good. You can also take the ACT as well. USC will accept the ACT in place of SAT, so if your ACT is higher (on the ACT scale) then use that instead. You definitely need to apply to more schools than just USC. If you only depend on USC and they dont offer you admission, you just delayed the start of your college career. Applying to more schools brings you a higher chance of getting into something because every offer for admission you get is an option. As far as transferring goes, its much more difficult to get into any good university with only one year of courses completed. Almost all universities strongly prefer a junior transfer (as defined by having completed at least 60 transferrable semester units) having the prerequisities course for the chosen major completed and having a very good GPA. Community college juniors have better chances of getting accepted than a university transfer.
