Do I need a license of massage in the US?

What kind of training I need to get license in massage therapy?

  • I was wondering what kind of training required to become a certified massage therapist. Any idea?

  • Answer:

I am not sure if you are california resident or not, but following answers would apply to those who live in California. First of all, you would need get hands-on massage therapy training to be qualified for taking massage therapy exam, http://www.ncbtmb.org/ I would recommend to take courses from an accredited school because you would get lots of financing options with those schools. If you live in southern california, I recommend Fremont College, http://www.fremont.edu/campusprograms/massage-therapy, fremont college has accelerated program and they are accredited. Once you become qualified, fill out the form / application, http://www.ncbtmb.org/certificants_forms.php and take exam. Good luck!!

It varies, depending on where you live (state, province, country...). In most of the US states and Canadian provinces, you are required to complete a certain number of hours of instruction and clinical application at an accredited school, pass a standardized test and in some cases a practical exam, and pay some money to various organizations. Do a search for "massage certification requirements in [where you live]".
