Quick question about college essay! PLEASEEEE HELP!!! PLEASEE!?
-
I am applying to Cornell University and would like to major in economics. For an economics major you apply to the college for arts and science and it requires you to write an essay of no more than 500 words on the following topic: College of Arts and Sciences: Describe your intellectual interests, their evolution, and what makes them exciting to you. Tell us how you will utilize the academic programs in the College of Arts and Sciences to further explore your interests, intended major, or field of study. I am not asking anyone to write this essay for me or even part of it, I am just a little stuck and need one or two good ideas on where to start and what to write about. Thanks soooooooo much to all who helped!!

It's hard to give suggestions, I don't know what you are interested in . If you have been interested in a singular topic for a long time, then use that. Art, Music, Math, Biology. Pick something you have always loved (or lie about it). Colleges like to see a continued interest. General format Sentimental story- something about your interest that is personal ex. painting your first mural on your bedroom wall, the first time you heard eric clapton, the first quadratic equation you solved. Evolution- how you studied to get better in this topic. Improvements. Passion- your continued passion for the subject and how (enter school name here) will allow you to explore your interest and grow
Of all the colleges at Cornell, Arts and Sciences is the main liberal arts one, so it gives you more access to language classes, music classes, literature classes, history classes, etc, so if you can say anything about why that liberal arts education interests you and would benefit you, then you're good. Let me also point out that the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) also has an economics major, Applied Economics and Management (AEM), so if the other types of classes in CALS are more interesting to you, then you could consider applying there instead. (If you're a NY resident, you should definitely apply to CALS, because that's one of the schools that offers a lower in-state tuition).
