How do colleges recalculate GPA?

Which colleges can I go to with a 5.0 GPA?

  • I finished my freshman year in high school by pulling off a 5.0 GPA out of 5.0. (We use a 5.0 scale). I take honors/AP classes which boost my GPA up alot. Although indecisive about what college Im going to go to, I was wondering which colleges would accept a 5.0 GPA?? I value education alot, and I promise to maintain that 5.0 GPA. Assuming that I graduate high school with a 5.0 GPA, which colleges do you think will accept me??

  • Answer:

It's impossible to say without knowing your other credentials--class rank, extracurricular activities, awards, etc. At the least, you will surely get into any state school and will be competitive for many high ranked programs.

You will have a lot to chose from. You also have to take into account you SAT or ACT scores. Look at local colleges, and see the average GPA the students have when admitted.

Depends on your SAT score and extra curriculars but I can tell you that you will be a strong contender for the Ivies.

Good GPA and high SAT scores are not enough for the best schools. You need to also show leadership skills by being an office holder in several organizations (not necessarily school) and you need to show a community spirit by being active in volunteer work such as hospital or hospice work. If you cannot get elected to some office, start your own organization. Having some business experience is also helpful. Oh, and get used to a life of little sleep.
