Which HP laptop is better for a college student?

Netbook or iPad for college student?

  • I have a HP laptop right now but the battery life is terrible and only last 10min so i can't really bring it to class. I want something that I can bring to class and type out my notes and go online and pull up the PowerPoints and all the lectures for the class. I have a Sony desktop that I will be able to use to type papers at home and i have my hp laptop as well. What are some pros and cons to each netbook and ipad for a college student? and which would you get?

  • Answer:

Get a netbook. Not an iPad. And iPad is an oversized iTouch. Trust me, you'll feel better about a Netbook. Another thing, there ARE people who bring their laptops to school however you need to factor in a lot of things. 1. Does the professor allow laptops in class? (A lot of the time they will have power points posted up online so you can access them at home if you need to.) 2. Are you going to be in school for long periods of time? If not then just have a pencil and paper. A laptop can be a distraction you don't need. Most of the time, you're better off not taking a laptop. Those are my two cents. Take it as it is. If you have to get one, get a netbook. If you can bring your charger for your laptop, then just use the HP. It's not like the classes won't have places for you to plug your computer in!

I have a ipad and hp lap top too =]. I agree hp laptop batterys suck when you bring them to school. However if your going to be typing notes the ipad really isn't the best choice unless you buy a bluetooth keyboard for it. However if you want to record what the teacher is saying the ipad is more easier to carry around and set on the table and just let it record the audio. I see my ipad more as a "toy" then an actual working computer for school, so i would just bring the laptop and an extra laptop battery if the battery life is really that bad.

Id get a new netbook. 1) itll be cheaper and 2) ipad's are too fiddly. But go for it if u can work a touchscreen goodly. Its less likely for ur netbook to be stolen too :)
