Confused about my career.. Nursing?

Is it normal that I still don't know what I want to do with my life, career wise? Is it normal that I still d?

  • I am a senior in high-school and I have absolutely no idea what I want to major in or what i want to do as a career choice. Right now, I am freaking out because I graduate in May and I still have no clue. I guess you can say I don't quite know myself as well I as should, like what my strengths are, what my weakness are, etc. I was so positive I was going into nursing (not that I have completely shot it down). But at the same time I'm interested in things like computer and video game development, so I considered that. But at the same time I would not mind working in film or theater production (not quite sure what field though). As you can tell I am very confused. I hope by my freshman year of college I should get it together.

    The good news is pretty much your first two years are all gen Ed courses so you still have time to figure it out.

Yes, it's normal to not know what you want to do career wise and what you want to major in. A LOT of high school seniors are in your shoes so don't feel bad: at least you have some ideas and interests. In college you can take classes in those interests and see if it's something that you want to major in. I changed my career path how many times, and taking classes in the areas that I was considering really helped in making decisions: whether to major in it or not. For example, I wanted to be psychologist so I took two psychology classes before deciding that it wasn't for me. After going through that process for my other career interests in the end I chose to major in English and now I kind of have an idea on what career I want. Don't worry about not having your career and major figured out. It's fun to explore different paths anyway.
