What are the chances of me getting into my program of study?

Does Harvard, Stanford, other top MBA grad schools do background checks? What are my chances of getting in?

  • Hi, I got a misdemeanor for squealing my tires/doing some burnouts in the parking garage on campus(apparently they felt like the cement coating was damaged, they considered this criminal mischief even though there was no malicious intent to damage or deface property). Will this affect my chances of getting into a TOP MBA program like Harvard, Yale, Stanford? I've heard that some schools do check and others don't. I really don't want to wait an additional 2 years to get it expunged from my record before applying. Other than that my resume is flawless-My GPA is 3.96 out of 4.0 and I have 2 Majors - Econ/International Business, 3 minors, 8 scholarships, completed study abroad, undergraduate research projects, successful internships, extensive work experience, excellent references etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated by those who have knowledge or experience in this area. Thanks. :)

    My guess is this wouldn't be a big deal --- particularly a misdemeanor. I work at a publlic school, and we wouldn't worry about such a thing in an MBA student. I don't know for sure about Harvard and Stanford. But the acceptance rate is very low at those schools anyway, so don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Most likely, yes. But then again I don't do screenings for those schools. But I'm sure once you have your face-to-face interview and explain yourself properly it shouldn't be a big deal.

Im not sure if they do or not, but even if they do if you have an otherwise flawless Resume im sure they will look it over and if they do a face to face interview you can explain yourself. good luck

They do check and that does sound like it would effect your chances. I would try as hard as I can to get that off my record (doesn't sound like much). As long as that is on your record, you are looked down upon.
