Being an EMT will count as work experience with some patient contact. However, you may also need to do many hours of shadowing a physician. Look at the specific entrance requirements of the PA program(s) you are considering before you waste too much time on the Paramedic obtaining a cert that you may not need especially if you really want to be a PA. Concentrate on getting the necessary college degrees. If your interest is in Emergency Medicine you can always specialize in that as a PA including an additional 18 -24 months after you finish a Masters as a PA>
