On collegeboard.com is the GPA weighted or unweighted?
-
On collegeboard.com for a certain college the GPA list goes like this: x% over GPA of 3.75 x% over GPA of 3.5 x% over GPA of 3.25 and so forth, so are these GPA weighted or unweighted?
-
Answer:
They are unweighted, which is what almost all colleges ask for. Every high school has it's own weighting system, so it doesn't make sense to compare weighted GPAs from different schools. My high school didn't weight honors classes and only weighted APs by 0.25, so with only 8 AP classes offered the highest possible GPA was about 4.05. The school down the road gave 1.0 for honors and 2.0 for AP, so their highest possible GPA was 5.5, but it was a much crappier school than the one I attended.
