How to get in med School in USA?

University of Pacific PharmD or hope I can get into med school?

• I'm currently a senior in high school. My main goal is to go to med school after I get my BS. I realize that for most people med school is just wishful thinking. However, I know that orthopedic surgery is my what I absolutely want to do. Now I have been given a great by University of Pacific. I was accepted into their accelereated PharmD program which would have my graduating as a licensed pharmacist no later than 25 years old. Pharmacy really isn't appealing to me, but I realize that in this economy today an opportunity like the one I am presented with is very rare. By the time I'm 25, I could making around $75 K as a pharmacist. Many people don't reach that salary in their life. It is clearly the smarter and much safer option when compared to hoping I get accepted to med school. It is just pharmacy really doesn't appeal to me. If I do take this route, and I graduate with a PharmD, could I still apply and get accepted into med school? Will it still be a viable option for me as long as I get the prerequisites done?

  I am studying pharmacy right now. If you don't like it, don't do it. There is no guarantee that in 6 years, there will be jobs left for you. Go for your dream. Yes you can do PharmD and then MD but why? you will waste 2 years..you most likely will cover all med school reqs during pharm school. edit: just so you know, accelerated programs are no joke. it is pharmacy school from day 1 and it will be tough getting the high gpa you will need for med school but it is certainly possible.
