What to do to become a pharmacist?

What degree should I earn and which college should I attend to become a pharmacist?

  • I am extremely interested in becoming a pharmacist, however I'm not sure how to do so... I'm a Junior now and need to start applications soon so I'd like to know what I should do. I live in Florida and my GPA is not high (2.8 unweighted - 3.25 weighted). The places I prefer to move to are Miami, Tallahassee, and Gainseville. Which colleges would I have a chance attending and what associates degree should I get before doing pharmacy? If someone can give me college ideas and let me know what they did to become a pharmacist I will find it EXTREMELY helpful... Thanks a lot :)

  • Answer:

Going into Pharmacy is a VERY hard program. I do not suggest going into a CC first. You need a PharmD degree. Honestly with a 2.8 you may struggle with this program. check out this web site. This school has a top notch pharmD program. I know it isn't in FL. But it will give you an idea of what you are going to need to do http://www.butler.edu/pharmacy-pa/degrees-offered/doctor-of-pharmacy/

I had a 3.25 back in high school ( 08' ) and I did drugs and missed 1/5 of my classes. Your not a pharmcasist son try being a pharma tech. My aunt who is in pharmacy school went the comm>Uni>Pharma school route she majored in biochemistry so I suggest you take basic bio classes and chem classes to see if you can handle it. If you can then you have a shot if not try a different major
