Any advice for nursing school?

In need of advice about nursing school, what should be my plan b if i can't pass the entrance exam?

  • I'm a 25 year old woman that has been in and out of college since i was 18 years old. I've had a really hard life but inspite of it all i keep fighting. I've always wanted to be a nurse and i want to help others. I have a illness, and i know what its like to be sick. Anyway to make a long story short, I've been trying to ge into this nursing school. Over the course of 6 months ive taken the test twice, and I have failed both times. I only have one more shot to take it and if i dont pass i will have to wait at least til jan. The school has a very long waiting list. Today is the 2nd time i took the test, i thought i had it in the bag but i failed again. Im trying not to take it so hard. But anyway im having alot of trouble with the math, ive studied it. I was wanting to get someone's option on what i should do. I have a plan B, i have some credits like english and human anatomy that will transfer over. So i was thinking i havent taken college math yet, maybe i can brush up and work on math classes this fall that will count and transfer over and will also strengthen me in that area. I should be able to take the test again sometime in jan of next year because that when i took it the 1st time if i fail.....i was wondering should i take this route. I know this may seem easy for some people but i have to fight hard for everything i get and im willing to do that i just want some suggestions.

Contact your local community college, and plan to enroll in their math classes for the fall. I suggest the cc because they offer "remedial" or high school level math classes, in case you end up needing them as a refresher, and they are your least expensive option. They also - and this is great for you - offer a math placement exam. This exam isn't one you can fail - it's simply to place you in the right level of math classes. Once you get the results of the exam, sign up for the appropriate math class, and then work your butt off. Get a tutor if needed. Form a study group with other students. Visit the prof. during office hours. Really try to master the math you're taking. Take all the math classes needed in order to get up to college level math. And only then do you retake this nursing entrance exam.
