What's difference between closed campus and open campus? (college)?

A closed campus is a campus that isn't spread apart from everything. The entire campus is basically in one location. An open campus has buildings that are spread apart. My advice would be to look at a campus map of KU and compare to a campus map of KSU. The KSU map has the buildings within walking distances of each other. Open campuses have buildings that require buses to get to. This is the reason open campuses are more dangerous. The open campuses tend to be by large cities and require you to walk long distances between buildings to get to your dorm. The campus police cannot cover each corner and would require longer to reach a location should you need assistance. A closed campus is a smaller area and allows the campus police to patrol the area of the campus in less time thus having more rounds. The buildings can be used as safe spots and everyone tends to be in one location instead of being miles apart.
