Can you skip out College and go straight to University?

If so, what would be the reason? "/ Would you need to have a qualification from College to get into University courses? (or some courses) My friend said she was thinking about going to Uni and I'm thinking about going to College. I'm just not sure what's the difference between them both? And I didn't know you could just do one or the other. I thought you would need to do College first, then University "/ I'm quite confused!! Please someone help! Thank you! :)

Answer:
Where are you from? They are the same thing in the context you're describing. A university consists of a collection of colleges, but you go where you want to go. For instance, my university has a the College of Education, the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering, etc. but some smaller schools are Liberal Arts Colleges. It's a matter of size and breadth of subjects, it's not chronological.

I don't know what region you're in (different parts of the world use the tem "college" and "university" differently). At least in the United States, college and university mean the same thing in many contexts. For instance, "I'm going to college" means I'm going to some university somewhere. Usually, a university is composed of a bunch of colleges. For instance, you could have the University of X, and this university is then subdivided into each individual college: -College of Engineering -College of Fine Arts -College of Business -College of Humanities and social sciences And these colleges together form the university itself. However, if you aren't in the U.S., some other countries do use the term "college" and "university" differently, and they may not be interchangeable there.
That really depends on what country you're in. You posted this in the US section, but in the US, we call it college instead of uni, and 4-year colleges and universities offer the same degree (bachelors) so you can go to either, and neither is better because it's called a college or university.
A university is a school containing multiple specific colleges such as pharmacy, law, medicine, engineering, etc... A college is an independent school that focuses on general studies with limited specializations. No need to be confused, go to a school that has the major you want and don't worry about it.
