College prep vs. honors and college prep vs. AP?

College, AP courses, honors courses?

  • I'm a sophomore in high school and I'm currently in standard Chemistry class. Since I only have two years left until college, I want to get more APs in my record. But any type of AP Science in my school needs the prerequisites of an honors science course. I really want to do AP Environmental Sci or AP Bio in 12th grade. But the thing is, I currently have a C in this standard Chemistry course and my work habits isn't very good. Course Signup is in about a month or so. 1. Is it possible for the teacher to let me go into an honors course in my junior year after I've done so bad? I want to go to Bio Honors because Chemistry is really not my thing (as you can see from my grade...). 2. How many AP classes can fulfill colleges? I'm only taking one AP course now, and I'm hoping I can get a lot more, accept I don't know how many I should aim for. 3. Do GPA's count in sophomore year? I've done a pretty bad job last quarter... Thanks so much for answering!!!

  • Answer:

if your at a C, AP will be even harder and if you fail youll have to retake the class, so i advise to just stay in all normal classes unless you have a high B in them. GPAs do count, and to get into Ap classes most often you take a test to get in. Ap is for advanced placement, not average.

You're getting a C in standard chemistry. Honestly, it doesn't sound like you'll do well in AP science. Stick with your standard classes for now. Try to take AP something else, like AP US History.
