How do you find out about mechanical engineering degrees?

Should I major in mechanical engineering?

  • Well, I'm in my junior year now, but yet I still don't know what I want to do. I'm taking physics hon this year, and I realized that I actually kind of like it, I find it easy (but maybe's that's cause the teachers easy). This gave me a urge to try to major something in physics. I asked my teacher and he said mechanical engineering does have physics involved, so it got me interested... until I looked it up and realized it had lots of work and it takes a yr longer to get a bach degree in it, compared to 4 yrs to get a aerospace one. I want to go to U of Florida to major in it,but it contains so much coursework like chemistry, (which I never was a fan of) So should I really try to major in mechanical engineering? If not, what else degrees are available to me that have physics involved? My teachers all complement me for having the ability to take all sorts information and relate them to one another in ways most people can't. Would this ability help me major in some other good things? Thanks

If you like physics, why not major IN physics? It has no chemistry involved.

Bro thats great! Physics is a tough course and if you excel in it over everything else, then why not go for it! Also physics is a wonderful course no doubt, my brother is becoming an aeronautical engineer, they make loads of money too! Anything engineering make great money. Go to a good university, get good marks, and become an engineer, like mechanical, aeronautical, electrical, etc... Try it man, its better than a lot of other stuff, if you don't like chemistry, it doesn't make sense to me why would want to become a chemist!
