What are my chances of getting into the University of Michigan?

  Your chances are not as good as people are saying they are. Your GPA is not spectacular, and the rest of your record is very average (everyone does lots of AP, lots of volunteer work, is part of clubs that do not really do anything). Your ACT score is all right, it is a tough call because you are out of state and there are many candidates who have records much better than yours. Your extracurriculars do not really mean anything (just clubs, nothing competitive), and everyone knows that NHS requires you to do service work so it makes your community service be less impressive. Schools like to see that you are not just in these activities, but that you do well, evidenced by getting into final rounds at states, nationals, etc. for activities such as debate, forensics, sports, choir, and so on. If you still early enough in high school, please consider joining some activity that is competitive, the ones you have now are application stuffers. You might get in, you might not. In no way is it certain, and i am reluctant to say it is especially likely that you get accepted to begin with.
