Help with a PreMed major?

Can you triple major or double major with a minor while working full time on a premed track?

  • The premed track in question only requires 2 years of chemistry and biology and 1 semester of organic chemistry and the possible majors/minor in question are all Political Science,Economics, and Psychology. They overlap quite a lot and I'm leaning toward minoring in political science right now.The job is full time 9 to 5 and I wouldn't even be thinking twice about NOT doing it if it weren't for the fact that it pays 100,000 yearly, which for a college kid is quite a lot....... Anybody wish to help me out by doing the math here?

  • Answer:

No. If you are working full time you barely have time for 1 major. Taking even a second one will pretty well guarantee your GPA will be so low that you will not get into medical school. And you should do economics as it is the only one with job prospects if you do not get into medical school and have to make a living with your bachelors degree.

I couldn't carry that load, and I really doubt you can either. Remember grades are important on a 'Pre.Med.' track.

A lot of people want to become Doctors; most of them are weeded out in Organic Chemistry.
