What are the differences between the ACT and SAT?

Do the ACT and SAT determine whether you can go to school in state or out of state?

  • ok so im preparing to register for my ACT and/or SAT. i had originally decided i wasn't going to do the ACT just the SAT because when i did practices the SAT was much easier for me. I live in OH and i most likely will be going to an in-state college but i REALLY want to go out of state. all the schools im looking at say they take both ACT and SAT and. Sometimes when i talk about how im only going to take my SAT people say "oh so you're going to school out of state?" my question is: is taking the SAT only for if you want to go to school out of state? and the ACT for in state? Can you take the SAT only and still go to school in state? thanks alot =]

  • Answer:

The school determines if they'll take the SAT and/or ACT, it doesn't matter if you'll be attending in-state of out-of state. You should check the schools that you plan on attending to see what tests they require to be admitted.

Depends on the state and or school. Some schools do not look at ACT and look at SAT. But most schools do look at both. It all depends. Good luck!
