Can I get into UCLA or UC Berkeley?

I want to get into UCLA or UC Berkeley?

  • My freshmen and sophomore years I got a 2.3 and 2.5. However, my junior year I took 3 AP classes and got a 4.0. My SAT sore is a 2050 and Im taking SAT II for: Math, Literature, Spanish, and US History. I am a member of 4 clubs and officers for 2. I am a classical musician. I am a member of my colorguard. I volunteer at a hospital. I completed a summer architecture course at the California College of the Arts last summer. I am a member of Sunday School.

  • Answer:

Your UC GPA comes out of sophomore and junior year grades. Unfortunately, your 2.5 in sophomore year does not help admission to Berkeley or UCLA. I'd recommend looking into a school like UCSB or UCD.

Congratulations on your 4.0. Almost all students admitted to these two campuses have unweighted GPAs of over 3.75 at the end of the junior year. A quick calculation indicates that you will probably not make that figure. Apply to some other UC campuses as well.

You will not get into Berkeley and you have a very small chance of admission at UCLA. Your gpa is just too low.
