Should i leave social studies course to pursue my barber dreams?
-
I'm 19 and i have just finish year 1 of a 3year university degree in a social studies course. My dream however has always been to become a barber and own my own barber shop. During my time in school, especially in the run up to my final exams, i was told to aim for a university degree because i was 'too smart' to become 'just a barber'. I then didnt pursue it any more. I had hopes if doing some work experience in a barber to help me decide what to do but my parents told me to forget my silly notions and do a job more worthy of my intelligence. I thought i'd be cut out to become a social worker but i just cannot handle it. Although i did well in me college exams i just dont feel i have the drive to continue and do another 2 years for a job im not going to be able to take. I have researched my barber career once again. i have discovered that i could get my qualification in 8 weeks for a fraction of the cost that the remaining 2 years in uni will cost me. This would be great news for my parents. But i feel i will let them down my dropping out of college and becoming 'just a barber', especially after doing a year already in uni. What do i do?
