How can I reenroll into college?

How can I solve this problem with college?

  • Hi, in May I committed to a college and paid a $250 deposit. However, I now realize that I made a terrible mistake by committing to this college. I deeply regret ever committing to this college and paying the deposit. I choose this college for all the wrong reasons and I have absolutely no desire to attend this college. I instead want to attend my local community college for 2 yrs instead, which would be much cheaper. The problem is that my parents are very upset that I don't want to attend the college anymore because they paid the deposit. The college most likely will not return the $250 deposit. I don't want to loose $250, but I also do not want to take out a student loan to attend a school that I really have no desire to go to. Also, my parents do not support my decision of attending the community college. I really don't know what to do in this situation. I have never been so unhappy in my life. I really don't know how I'm going to solve this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Answer:

There are two things that you can do: 1) Look for any literature that includes the details of paying and getting a refund of the $250 deposit. This will give you some critical information. 2) Call the University and talk to someone. You can be honest with them and hope that they give it back to you or you can make up some sob story of why you need some money back. As far as life with your parents: you are living your own life. Of course they support you, but you didn't ask them to be here either. They should support any healthy decision that you make. You shouldn't live your life to just make them happy. Either they're gonna be 100% happy or you are. Find a healthy medium. People live with differences of opinion everyday.

Suck it up to experience. You lose the deposit. OK. So, get a summer job and pay your parents back.

wow....ive been in this situation the truth is you always want to be true to yourself and follow what you want to do because at the end of the day its your decision your an adult now whether they see it or not (YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH YOUR DECISION NOT THEM) but with that being said sometimes its better to follow your parents advice it can come back biting you in the *** like it did me. But im glad i made my own decision even though I should of listened to my parents..... in the end I did what was right for me at the time
