High school / college issues?

ToWhomItMayConcern... I have a problem that I wont get to go to a respectable college or even succeed in life. I did well 9th and 10th grade I would probably say like a B, B- average for both years but 11th grade was deff. the worst = *Alg 2(regents)* I got a D for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ( was actually a C-) and for 4th marking period grades i got a C- as well *French Com 2* I got a B- for all marking period grades *Chem Com* fluctuated between B+ and A- all year * English (honors)* I got like a B, A average But then It got worse...I took the SAT on May 2nd and when I got my score back it was a 1250 :( when I was really trying to aim for like a 1950 or something like that this summer I have done noting but go to summer school to take 12th grade classes = Gov and E-con so that I won't have to take them next year... what guidance advice does anyone have for me or any college recommendations (please I am literally on the verge of depression/suicide by the way things are going or going to turn out) Sincerely, TheGirlWhoIsAboutToLoseItAll :(

Answer:
you would be fine .... take it from someone who did do as well as i please in 11th grade but still manage to get a 3.0 so far but u would say that u would be fine just don't blow off your senior year ... but as of the scoring a 1950 that's not going to happen try scoring something reasonable like a 1500 or little bit higher .... sorry to damp your goal :(

first of all, you are a victim of the college hype. i would calm down before even thinking any further. now, my best advise is to do as best as you can in 12th grade. if you do, you will get into a state college (if that is what you are aiming for). if you don't do good, try to get into the college you want or your choice colleges (a state university that was not your first choice or a community college) DONT freak out, just finish the one semester there and try to transfer. you will go to your dream college. ANYONE can go to college. I know people who were jsut plain stupid (gpa 1.5) and got into a college. you will make it, i have seen worse situations and they turned out fine. TRUST ME, you are in good position
My advice? Chill out. Where you go to college really only matters when applying to grad school or applying for your first job. Other than that it's just for bragging rights. Ten years from now when you apply for a new job in whatever field, they're gonna focus more on your experience than what college you went to. Unless you go Ivy League or top 10, no one's really gonna care. Besides, "respectable" colleges aren't always the best. The "respect" is earned by stupid rankings that are very biased in favor of the college's funding, research, and facilities. That's why you very rarely find a liberal arts college at the top of any rankings list. Don't get sucked into the whole "If you don't go to a tier 1 school you'll never be successful" thing. Besides, I got C's and D's in freshman and sophomore years of high school but still made it to a tier 1 school.
You need to talk to your guidance counselor and go from there. Try taking the ACT instead of the SAT. Most colleges will take an ACT score. The test is longer, but it's not as difficult. It also depends where you live and how far you want to go away. Your grades are not that bad. I had some D's in Algebra, too, and I got A's and B's in everything else, like you did. I got into 4 colleges. Your best bet is to apply to small liberal arts colleges because they look at the whole student, not just test scores. You'll write an essay, come in for a tour and an interview, and they'll look at your extra curricular activities. If you did extra stuff, then you should be fine. If not, then you need to join some activities this coming year. Relax--you'll be fine! EVERYONE feels the way you do--myself included!
Aww, poor baby. Ur gonna b okay, I promise <3 I have good news and bad news.... Good news: u still can go to college! I would advise that u go to a two year community college (they accept almost anyone with a diploma or GED) all u have 2do is register! And guess what? After completing those 2years, u can then go 2the university of your choice!! But of course it's up 2u from this point on to try hard and achieve!! GOOD LUCK Hun!! The bad news is u would miss the true college experience for those first two years BUT!! It's OK!! What is important is that u make something of urself attain a degree and a carreer. Plus u may end up graduating from a better university than ur friends!
