  • Please keep in mind that im 14 so to understand i need a well explained answe. Also how many years do you need to be a psychiatrist?? THANKS SOOO MUCH!!

  • Answer:

Psychiatry is a medical specialization. You need to complete any 4 year degree of your own choice while taking up all the required premedical courses for med school. You apply to med school and take up Medicine Proper for 4 years. More or less a year of medical internship then another 2 years for specialization studies. All in all, the minimum years of study is 11 years.

Other answers

Assuming you are in the USA, you would need to take premedical courses, preferably at a four year college or university. These would include lecture and lab courses in general/inorganic and organic chemistry, biology and physics. You may also have to take math and biochemistry. You will have to get a good score on the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test). You would apply to medical school after taking the MCAT and the prerequisite courses. Medical school takes four years. After medical school you would do a paid psychiatry residency, which is another four years.

Really depends in where you live in. I'm 14 too, but I want to become a pharmacist. I am sure you need to go to university for that. And you have to be doing psychology in year 10 and up to learn more

yes
