Answer:
You may want to consider Chatham University in Pittsburgh. (www.chatham.edu). This is a very nice women’s school where the grounds are a national arboretum and many of the dorms are in mansions. As well, they have agreements to allow you to take classes at eight other schools in Pittsburgh, including Carnegie-Mellon, University of Pittsburgh and others. They have a shuttle that runs to Pitt and Carnegie Mellon twice an hour. They also have a comprehensive program for studying abroad, and require some amount of international education for all students. For admittance, they evaluate the whole person and do not require the SAT. They are considered a high acceptance rate school. A unique feature of Chatham is that they do require a thesis (called a tutorial) from each student to graduate. My daughter did hers on highway safety issues. My daughter went there and her Chatham thesis got her a near free ride into graduate school. And that did lead to a full ride for her PhD from a top tier, research I school with job offers in the $100K range. Not everyone does as well but having a thesis done while an undergrad results in many people treating you as if you have a grad degree already because you can prove your ability to conduct a large, independent research project. My daughter checked out Hampshire and they are so unstructured she felt she could not study effectively there. She liked Mount Holyoake a couple miles down the road better.

Here We Go!! - any ivy school (Penn, Harvard, Yale...blah, blah,blah...etc) - FSU - University of Florida - UGA - UNC - V-tech - University of Virginia - UMD (Maryland) - Penn State - Syracuse - UCon -American University --- note: The southern schools are bigger party school and better Greek life. The northern schools are more about academics (most of the top ivy schools are in the north-east) . Also it depends what you want to major in? for example if you want to do -engineering -business -computer science - criminology and criminal justice ------Then go to UMD Also it depends where you want to wok (what city or state). for example if you want to work in NYC then choice a school as close to NYC as possible. Your more likely to get a job where need , where you went to school...... (not always , but most of the time)
Oberlin, U. Chicago , and Hampshire, like all other universities in the US., are shameless universities that keep producing lots of flunkeys and lackeys who always become leeches and thieves.
Drexel University is near Philadelphia and has a good reputation, so does Temple University which is also near Philly, PA.
Look at Swarthmore College near Philadelphia. Few students would like both very liberal Oberlin and rather conservative and libertarian U. Chicago.
