What are some good colleges in Canada?
-
I'm currently in high school and starting to look at colleges. I plan to move to Canada eventually so I figured, "why not go to college there?" My grades are so-so and I am not involved with any sports but i'm very involved in music. I'm in the band as well as several extra-curricular groups. I am also a member of our Musical Honors Society. I don't believe i'll be going into music though, what i really want to do is go into Theatrical Makeup. Also, the language i take in school is American Sign Language, do any colleges accept it? Please help this clueless high school student! [and yes, I am American. Stupid American jokes are welcome :) ]

Answer:
All Canadian universities are Good or better, though there are few world-class universities. Canadian universities are expensive for students who are not Canadian. Don't waste your university years of foolish frivolities such as "Theatrical Makeup". Some easy schools to get into are: Lakehead U Memorial U U of Winnipeg Brock U (which recruits USA students heavily).

The school referred to by someone is McGill university in Montreal. Other responder was wrong...US is not the centre of the academic universe: Canada has some great programs, great colleges and universities. Ryerson University has a theatre program as does George Brown College (both in Toronto). If you have ASL there are also interpreter training programs: Douglas College in British Columbia, Lakehead in Alberta, Red River College in Winnipeg, George Brown College in Toronto, Nova Scotia Community College in Halifax. Good luck.
You can probably do something relating to make-up or theatre make-up at a community college here. Colleges (we call them "universities", *not* "colleges") generally don't offer courses in make-up, unless it's an isolated course as part of a Theatre program. George Brown College in Toronto has a makeup school, although it's not specifically for theatre makeup. It also only leads to a certificate, not a diploma or degree. Make sure to double-check with the university or college you want to apply to! They have very particular requirements, so always call ahead and ask any questions you need to before applying.
There's a great college in Montreal Canada I think it's called mcguile or something I know it starts with a m.. Has a great music school and not to hard to get into it's the college I would of gone to if I had a second chance check it out Montreal is a great city
There really aren't any good schools in Canada. If you want to go to a great school, you really have to come to the United States. Some of the best schools I can think of are Adelphi University and Long Island University.
