What are my chances with UCI?

What are my chances of getting into UCB, UCLA or UCI?

  • I want to major in biology UC GPA: 3.67 Fully weighted academic GPA: 4.15 SATI: 1690 SATII Math II (710) & Biology (700) 5 Honors Classes Taken 3 AP classes (passed 2 AP Tests) Currently taking 3 AP classes 3 Years Varsity Tennis Team, 4 total (First team All-League) 200+ Hours of community service Held a summer job at an orthodontic office Play for my churches worship team, I play the guitar, piano, and drums. I already got rejected from UCD and UCSD, and these are the schools i'm waiting on. Think I have a chance?

I know the SAT system changed since I was in high school so I'm not sure where your scores stand against that. But your GPA seems good, you're taking APs and participate in extracurriculars. UCB and UCLA are really tough and you'd need near perfect scores. However, there is a good chance you'd get into UCI (but you never know). I went to UCD but got rejected from UCI. So don't take UCD's rejection as a rejection from the entire UC system. Hang in there and good luck!

You have quite a good chance. Good subject test scores and a decent GPA. Yet how did you find out you were rejected from UCSD? What did it say to you on the site? Did you apply to UCSB as well?

I got into UCI already (for some reason, some people I know got in early, most are still waiting) with a GPA similar to yours, but all AP's senior year and SAT 2070. Your SAT is low, but you'll probably get into UCI. Who know about the other ones? Just do what I did: take up yoga and relax. There is no piont in worrying about anything you can't change.

hello

I'm sure you'll get into UCI. I applied to UCLA as well. My gpa (weighted) is 4.33 and SAT 2020. I'm scared for UCLA as well since that school is crazy selective! and Berkeley is ever harder than LA. I didn't apply there though. don't wanna go there.

Wow I don't get why you got rejected into UCD or UCSD, you seem pretty good. Maybe you chose a very popular major, but your a pretty good candidate for most schools.

Yeah, the Bio program at UCSD is TOUGH to get into (I have a lot of friends that are in it), and your GPA does shooet a little low for it, but that is just because it is a nationally recognized program. I would say that you have a very strong chance of getting into UCI. Also does your SAT score include the writing part or no? If it does, then your SAT score is a low for Berkley and LA. Now, this doesn't mean that you don't have a shot of getting in because you have very impressive credentials, but you are applying for a very common major that is highly competative in both of those schools. I would deff. think that you would get into UCI, and you have a shot at UCLA and Berkley, but I dont think it'll happen (it's ok though because UCI is a wonderful school). The only reason I say not to bet on it is because this was a highly competative year for UC admissions and the acceptance rates are predicted to drop quite a bit because of the amount of competative students applying.
