How to become an RN?

Want to become an RN, how exactly do I accomplish this?

  • I want to become an RN in western Fl, and prefer online school. What options do I have? What schools and programs do you recommend?

  • Answer:

Here's a site for some RN resources that can help you: http://www.nursingschools.com/ here's that same site, but the FL specific page: http://www.nursingschools.com/states/florida-nursing-schools-programs.html Here's another site with some more information on Nursing degrees and requirements: http://www.nursingdegree.net/nursing-schools-florida.htm You typically want to stay AWAY from online schools since most are scams anyways... BESIDES especially in the MEDICAL field, you'll be looked down upon from not having an accredited school under your belt for your studies. Most places will reject you because of it. That's just how it is. If you have a family, I would suggest night courses be the way you would do this... As far as I know, you can get a degree in nursing in just four years, two years are prereq classes, the last two years are for nursing specifics like anatomy, medicines, nursing procedures, etc... but it depends, some don't require those and you can be done in just two years... You can also keep going back and getting more and more education, leading to higher paying positions because of experience and expertise... I hope this helps, good luck with the job search and your education.. it's a very special career for a gifted, kind hearted person... not everyone can be an RN ;) EDIT: I just thought i'd throw this in... the more school you get, the more you put in, should be simple but a LOT of people don't get this and come unprepared. The Associates and Bachelors levels are typical school stuff, studying and what not... Once you get to the Master's level, the difficulty of the work does not go up, per se, it's not as though suddenly everything is more challenging. The challenge comes from the name itself, you must show MASTERY in that field of study. Master's level coursework is FAR more detailed and oriented towards thinking outside the box rather than taking tests and studying, etc... it's more about showing that with a problem presented, you can think outside and USE the knowledge to benefit the patient and be able to think on your feet, rather than give a best answer on an exam question... But you don't have to worry about that if you don't want to go that far, but since you are taking the time to ask the questions, you are already demonstrating that you are a smart person... it's those who do NOT ask, and assume they know, that are the first to fail ;) It's a really tough set of work, but if you are dedicated (if you have a family or are trying to get more money to support them I don't even have to tell you how vital success with your studies are, you KNOW that already ;) ), You can do it but be warned, it's NOT like regular school once you get up in the degree levels. Also, consider WHERE you wish to work. Some areas are OVERSATURATED with nurses and so you won't get job offers even if you are a good candidate... some people say, "Go be a nurse, you'll make good money!" not always true... some states and areas are too overstaffed, so consider well, WHERE you are, and what the needs are, it's just the same with me, becoming a teacher, because some areas are overflooded with History teachers and i'll need to consider well, where i'm going to live... since i'm single now, it's easy, but with a family established, not so much ;) Just think of the small things that get in the way sometimes and you'll do fine.

LOL! Good luck finding a nursing school on-line because nurses takes loads of training. If you really would want to become nurse then go to a community college which here in New York is a two year degree, I don't know about down in Florida? Sorry! You can either become a nurse for two years at the community college with an associate degree, four years bachelor, or eight years master that's to become a nurse practitioner.

You can't become a nurse online.
