What is considered a good GPA at university?

Is a 2.9 GPA and a 1600 SAT good enough for: UMASS Boston, Texas A&M, and Montana State U at Bozeman?

  • is a 2.9 GPA and a 1600 SAT good enough for: UMASS Boston, Texas A&M, and Montana State U at Bozeman, Christopher Newport University, and Old Dominion University? I go to a Private school so they'll probably bump my GPA up a little since its considered "harder" than public school. BUt what are my chances of getting in? especially to the first three schools. Please and thank you

  • Answer:

Different schools have different standards and values. For example some schools consider an admission factor as more or less important than other schools. There about a dozen or so factors that schools take into consideration for admission. You mentioned only two of them. Use the site below to help determine your chances for each school./

I was accepted as UMass with a 3.2 GPA, and a 1670... I don't remember the minimum GPA to apply. Check around on their website to see what the minimum scores are...Those are important. I got into the 3rd best college in my state with these scores as well, so...(though, this isn't saying much, because it is Georgia)

That gpa can be risky. But go to college board. com and they will tell you pretty much everything anout any college. Also goto their websity and it should tell you Canny answer mine http://answers.yahoo.com/question/ask;_ylt=AkHFqhLwjwNJTUlApzdUNPkPzKIX;_ylv=3

Look up your intended school at www.cappex.com They put a map of unweighted GPA versus SAT scores on one of the pages. Plot your unweighted GPA vs your SAT and you can estimate your chances. Also look up your intended school at: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/csearch/index.html?affiliateId=rdr&bannerId=csearch http://collegeprowler.com/ www.a2zcolleges.com http://www.princetonreview.com/

A 2.9 is not good enough for Christopher Newport and it's probably not good enough for Texas A&M. But you have a decent chance of getting into the other schools.

If your GPA is below 3.0, you are at high risk of failing any college that accepts you, or graduating with a worthless degree. College is not for everyone. Consider starting an apprenticeship in some decent trade instead.
