Which is the cheapest community college in DFW area in Texas?

How to afford college?

  • I'm a Texas resident and I will be a senior this fall. I will still be 17 when college starts next fall. I'm interested in this schools: UT Austin Texas A&M SMU TCU Texas State Texas Tech My stats: Unweighted 3.8 GPA (Don't know my weighted) Top 7% of class 1740 SAT (Plan to retake) At least 2 AP classes every year Played select volleyball Softball manager Community service I help coach kids at camps The thing is, my dad won't help me pay for it unless I get a big scholarship, he might offer to pay like $5000 a year, but I honestly don't know. He has a 150k income, so I doubt I'll get much financial aid even though I'm still gonna apply for it. He won't let me get a job till the spring, and I only have $2000 saved up. So what can I do? I refuse to go to a junior college, the ones around my area are terrible and I can't go to one in another city because I won't be 18 so I can't move out unless I'm in dorms. These are my dream schools, so how can I pay for them?

    Do really well and you'll get scholarships and grants (perhaps a full ride!). If worse comes to worse, you can take loans.

you better get a scholarship otherwise you're screwed, unless you get money the way most people who can't have jobs get it but I wouldn't recommend it because it's not legal and you seem like a good kid with a good future.

Scholarships!! You have a great looking list of achievements, so start applying for scholarships ASAP. Plus almost all of your schools are in state public schools so your tuition wont be too expensive.

You can look for individual scholarships. You can check out these websites for more information. www.usjournal.com/en/students/info/fin… . The other way is to ask your seniors who have been admitted to the unis that you want to enrol in to find out what other scholarships there are. You can start a part-time business to gain experience to save up for college

Go to college board.com they will help you a lot i'm also going to be a senior this fall and that's the site i used it really helps. and you dint have to go to junior college you could go to maybe a cheaper school then one of the ones listed and Transfer but with your grades i highly doubt you'll have trouble getting scholarships and grants. and if worse comes to worse there are loans but only do that if your out of options. also go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ they will give you your fafsa score and give you ALOT of grants and stuff that you may be able for that you dont even know about.
