Transferring College Credits?

Can you transfer credits to a university from a community college in another state? Like if i go to a community college in ga, could i transfer those credits to a university in al? Or does it depend on the individual university?

Kyle is correct, it is a lot better transferring credits in-state than out of state. I live in Pennsylvania & East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will accept a big majority of my transfer credits. I could go to a college that's close in New Jersey since I live near the PA-NJ border, but a lot of my credits are less likely to transfer verses transferring them over to a Pennsylvania university.
