    Yes... but not in the way you probably think it does. When you go throughout high school, your grades work to create a grade point average...or a GPA. At the end of each semester (marking period) your grades calculated and they come up with a GPA for the semester. At the end of each year, the schools calculate your cumulative GPA and that is the big number that colleges look at. The grades you get as a Freshman reflect the grades you'll get as a senior. If you have a great GPA your freshman year, and you maintain good grades, colleges notice that. There is a big transition from grade school to high school, as there is from high school to college. Admissions offices look at these kinds of things. They want people to join their schools knowing that they are going to be working well and maintaining good grades, even with a big transition. Sort of. I personally dont really care about school prestige or any of that. So the only reasons to get good grades(3.7 or above) imo is to get scholarships. If you are in the middle of your class like i was(3.3) then you will probably not get scholarships. so if you want free money, bust your a$$ thru High school and get scholarships. Try not to be in the middle like me. haha looking back, i wish i would have either gave way more effort, or slacked off even more because my high school grades have nothing to do with where i am at in college. Go big or go home.

All your high school grades are considered when applying to college. But it is more a cumulative grade than individual ones. So, if you have a bad year, just make sure you have better ones and they will average out.

Yes they always count but only the semester grades if you have a D or an F you can say bye bye to a good college and hello to community college

yes its your overall GPA. you can still bring it up if you didnt do well. you have 3 more years. DO YOUR BEST ITS WORTH IT!
