What can be wrong with my xbox 360?

Wrong xbox 360 power supply/cord,can i strip the wire and make a new wire?

• my xbox 360 175 watt power supply cord cord cracked at the part that plugs into the xbox. I have a 150 watt power supply for a 360 as well that does fit into the back of the xbox, but obviously I cant use it because of the watt difference. so im wondering if i can use the good end (from the 150 watt) and attach it to the 175 watt? ill tape it up with the electrical tape and all, so basically im asking for any thoughts, how safe it would be etc.. the xbox would still be on the correct power supply, just with a cut and taped wire... hope i explained that properly..

  buy a new cord ! gamestop.com and find a store near , maybe they have a good used cord///
