What's wrong with my xbox live wireless adapter?

Xbox live network adapter help?

  • I just bought a network adapter for my xbox this week. Previously I have been connecting my xbox via ethernet cable to my wireless router. When I hooked the new adapter up to my xbox and performed a connection test, it failed. It is picking up my network and I am entering in the password and everything, so im not sure what the problem is. I have tried restarting my xbox, router, and modem and nothing has changed. please help!

This should really be posted in the gaming category, but I'll help you out. Something that often prevents XBox from connecting to your local wireless network are the preset IP and MAC addresses. You might need to change them. The easiest way to do this is to go to the Network Settings menu, select the box that has the IP, MAC, Subnet Mask, etc. and select the option that says "Automatically Set" or something like that. The XBox will then receive the required information from your router to correctly join the network. Try putting your password in again, and try to connect. It should work now.
