Whats wrong with my sharp VCR?

  • I have a Sharp VCR that worked a few days ago. Now, when I try to use it, it won't play, rewind, fast forward, or pause. Wheneve I push the said buttons, it starts to work that operation, then stops. I need to know if I can fix it/ if it can be fixed, and what is wrong with it. I will remind that it was tipped toward the front and a VHS that was in it fell out. I would like to know if that caused it to malfunction.

    Check for a broken belt. If that is the problem, you may be able to replace it yourself. Other possibilities include a jammed mechanism (which can happen for no apparent reason) and a bad "mode switch" (a multiposition switch that "tells" the microprocessor what function the tape transport is doing "now"). Either of these will require professional service.

Possible that there is either a piece of a tape inside or just a buildup of dirt; you can remove the housing to see what is inside for dirt, etc and if that does not fix it, it's cheaper to buy new than repair
