How do I hook up my tv to DVD to direct tv?

How do I hook up an old dvd player, to an old tv?

  • I have a old ORION tv it has to input connector things ( a video in and a aduio in.) and my Dvd player is a Jwin dvd player it has three hookups a red, yellow, and white one. The tv only has yellow and white. Is there any way to hook this up so it will work? I dont have to remote to the dvd player so i cant use the input button but I dont think it has one.. And the remote to my tv doesnt have one either? Any idea how I can get it to work. Thanks to all answers :)

  • Answer:

Just hook up the yellow to yellow, (that is the video.) and the white to the audio...(leave the red alone), you will just not have one channel of audio.) The TV has to be set to an 'input' mode to view the DVD..

follow Ryan's advice on the wires. the fact the TV has a remote is encouraging. most likely the line video input is selected as a "channel", try channel 00 or 01 to get video input. If you can select channels with an up/down arrow, go to the lowest regular TV channel and then down one more to get video. you made need to have the DVD player on and connected for the TV to scan the line input. If this doesn't work, then look for a switch on the TV near the channel selector that says "line/TV" or something like that.
