MACROVISION Removal on my DVD VCR player COMBO ! Please HELP!?
-
I own a Sanyo DVD VCR combo, which allows copying from VCR tape to DVD disk or from a DVD disk to VCR tape. I have a few great old VHS video tapes that i would like to copy to DVD disk as the tapes are beginning to wear from all the excessive play and because of their age. The VHS tapes are genuine and when i set up to play the tape and copy it to DVD disk it comes up with a message "Cannot allow copying of this video" or something similar anyway. This is a bit of a bummer as this was one of the reasons i originally bought the combo. To make legitamate copies of old worn VHS tapes on to DVD disks, so i can keep them for many more years. I have read up and apparently my problem is due to MACROVISION on the tapes. Anyhow here are 2 links-, 1st link is to the same model of my COMBO, 2nd is to a Wiki link on Macrovision.- http://uk.shopping.com/Sanyo-Sanyo-DVR-V100E-Multi-Region-DVD-Recorder-VCR-Combi/info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rovi_Corporation I have seen devices are able to be bought which plug into the SCART outlet, but these are mainly for when people have 2 VCR's or 1 VCR and 1 DVD player, so the device plugs in, in between the SCART which connects the 2. But this WON'T help my case as i have the COMBO. I have read that modifications and devices to stop MACROVISION interferrence are easy and cheap to make. So can anyone please give me information or lead me to links of where i can see what i need to do and what components i need to buy to make changes to my COMBO unit so that i can overcome this problem. Many thanks in advance for your help. Cheers Paul.

Answer:
In most countries, bypassing macrovision is illegal, so any info on how to do it, by default violates Yahoo Answers policy. To tell the truth, copying VHS tapes on DVD is a major waste of time. The quality is usually horrible and I only recommend it for tapes with personal memories you really want to keep. Buy the used DVD of the movie, the quality will be 10 times better.

It's not about balls, it's about what is possible. There is no known way to remove the macrovision protection from your DVD/VCR unit. There IS software that will allow you to do it. All you need as a USB video adapter for your computer: http://www.amazon.com/Pinnacle-Systems-82303000101-Dazzle-Recorder/dp/B0039Y2YDK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1282159264&sr=8-3
