How do you record a TV show from your VCR?

How do I record a tv show from my sky box to a vcr cassette ?

  • I want to record a tv show from my SKY box but I have no idea how to do it. The tv is set Ch. 3 and I can see the shows from only that channel and change the channels from that channel. The VCR/DVD is set to the DVD "channel". How do i get to record the show onto my cassette? HELP!! thanks :)

  • Answer:

Ok - your TV is set to the standard channel 3 which is also the output of your sky box. You control the channels on your sky box only. If your Sky box has a separate video and stereo audio output jacks - connect the video output of same to the video input of the VCR. The same with the two audio lines which are usually of the RCA connector type (as well as the video cable). The L and R audio out from the Sky box go to the audio L and R input of the VCR. The input of the VCR has to be switched to video/audio - not to the tuner in that case! If you want to use the VCR tuner for recording - that one has to be set to channel 3... same as your TV. However, you need a two-way splitter to feed not only your TV but also your VCR from the Sky box whose output is set to channel three. In taht case you need a 75Ohm (coax) shielded cable - same as the one from your Sky box to the TV. I hope this helps... (electronics tech)
