Can you get sound through VGA cable?

Cant get sound to work with my vga cable?

  • when i choose the vga channel on my tv i get good image but no sound so i got a red/white adaptor with headphone on the other end and put it in my laptop and into av1 but i can only get the sound to work on av1 not on vga. how do i get both sound and image to both go on vga? maybe use a different red/white input? but which one?thanks

  • Answer:

Most TVs have a 3.5mm audio input jack associated with the VGA. You just need a stereo 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord long enough. Otherwise, you will need to find out what particular audio input is associated with the VGA video in, or how to assign one one of the other inputs to VGA. Read your TV manual to find out how.

There is no audio through your vga cable. You have to run the audio separately. If your laptop and TV have HDMI connectors the HDMI cable would be the way to go as HDMI has audio.
