I want to buy the coffee machine, in India.

I have a coffee machine (110V, 60Hz) that i want to use in India (220V, 50Hz). What devise do i need for it?

• We can use either a voltage converter or a transformer. The machine is a coffee maker with timer function and digital function display, and someone tells me we cannot use the converter(which is cheaper) in such devices(ones with digital circuitry and digital time function). The only other option is to use a transformer. The transformers are relatively expensive and cost almost similar or more than my coffee machine. I am in a dice. Please advise.

  You would require a transformer, so it's definitely not worth it. Also consider that Coffee Makers use a lot of power to for heating and this will require an even heavier bulkier and more expensive transformer. Even electric appliances without any digital electronic circuitry usually require a transformer. The only devices which work with a simple adapter/converter are ones which support multi-voltage power sources (e.g. a range from 110V to 220V), or devices which have a mechanical switch to adapt the power supply to handle the new higher or lower voltage. Most portable electronics (e.g. Cameras, Laptops) have auto-sensing multi-voltage support. Most (desktop) computers and many portable electrical devices (e.g. hair dryers) have a voltage switch. Most non-portable devices are designed only to work with one voltage and require a transformer.
