What does 'capacitive touchscreen' mean and what's the difference compared to 'resistive'?

Capacitive touchscreens require a finger to register the capacitive difference. Usually they're cheaper to make. Resistive touchscreens can use almost anything, including fingers, to register the resistive difference. Resistive touchscreens are more expensive because they can be made in higher resolutions.
