Can you add more money to Apple gift card?

I couldn't afford to buy the iPad as a Xmas gift so I thought a gift card might be an ok idea. Problem is, I now wish I had put more on the gift card. Can I go back to the store and add more money? If not, could I buy a new gift card WITH the gift card and add more money? I don't want to give two cards to the same person...Also, what is the difference between the regular apple gift card and the "iPad gift card"? (debating my options here before I journey to the insanely packed mall)

The amount you spent on the gift card is electronically encrypted on the card I'm sure the store would be more than willing to redo the card or add it to another card when wanting to spend more....:)

You can't add to a card and you can't exchange or return a card. The Apple Card is for hardware such as iPhone or iPad. The iPad gift card is probably an Apple Card but you should make sure before you buy it. The iTunes Card and App Store Card are both for content such as apps, movies, music, iBooks, etc.
