How can we use our PC as a voice recorder?

What is the fastest way to get audio recording from voice recorder to PC?

  • my voice recorder (Sony) has no usb or other port so I can upload what I recorded on my PC and later on burn it on a CD. The only way I know is to use a double audio cable (both ends are like those for headsets, plugged in the recorder and in the headset port of the PC), however, the audio recording soft gets terrible results, there is so much noise transfered that I cannot understand a thing, plus, it takes tooooo long to re-record from recorder to PC. Is there any way I can at least transfer my recordings without so much noise? Is there a FASTER way to do it than recording it on the PC via the audio cable? please help!!!!

  • Answer:

It depends on what your recorder uses for memory. If it's digital then there should be a chord of some sort, if it's by tape they make tape-to-PC adapters.

If there is no removable memory card you can put into a standard PC reader, or serial/USB port to directly copy from, your only option is to use analog audio to copy from headphone out to PC line in. Generally that would mean only real time copying, however: If the device has a high/adjustable playback speed, you can play it to your computer recording software at the higher rate, then slow it down in software. I think Audacity will do what you want. You will want to set the recording for a higher bit rate quality, to get the higher frequency of the playback.
