How to record a song from TV with high quality?

    Simple way:- put a mic 6 inches away from speaker to record it. Do not make any extra noise from yourself (sit tight and do nothing until record is done). Adjust mic input as low as it can and turn TV volume into middle range. This way can avoid pick up unwanted noise. More complex ways: If you TV has "audio out" output RCA socket,audio signal can be taken out from there without need a microphone. But you need at least a good tape recorder to do this task. Because RCA audio out requires to connect with RCA cable (both ends have RCA plug). Connect other end of RCA cable to tape recorder AUX input. You can do the same task with computer,but the cable needs to be modified. Cut away one end of RCA plug. For two audio channels , modify two RCA cables into one cable. Join two opening wire into a stereo phone jack that fit the compute sound card Line-IN socket. Obtain a copy of software that can copy sound . The finished recoding shall be stored into mp3 or other sound file format.

If you have & use external speaker jacks , use a splitter, or you can do what I did about 40 years ago---- run a bypass wire on the earphone jack ( with a switch to turn it on or off) then use standard shielded cable to you recorder.

Best way would be to run an audio line out from the TV to a recorder of your choosing. This is silly, Yahoo won't let me post a link, so you'll just have to do a search. You can buy these cables for less than $5 They are called stereo rca to 1/8" mini plug, or sometimes 3.5mm stereo plug. No cutting, hacking, or soldering involved, they come this way. TV line out (the RCA connectors) to computer soundcard line in (the mini jack). In fact, any recorder with a line in jack will work. If you try to use a microphone in jack (like on your computer) keep the recording volume low, mic jacks have a pre-amp built in and this can cause severe distortion.
