Is it illegal to use a free newspaper to distribute your own flier?

Is it safe to plug in a 30+ year old tanning bed that has been in storage for 25 years?

  • It's actually the first tanning bed EVER brought to North America... My grandfather almost owned the rights to manufacture and distribute them across the continent! No joke, true story, we have the newspaper article around somewhere to prove it! Anyway, my sister wants to use the thing as a way of exposing large sized photo paper or something like that. The thing is that it has been sitting in my father's basement for over 25 years, there have been a few basement floods in the area it has been stored, nothing serious, but enough to get the side it's been sitting on wet... I'm wondering if it's a good idea to keep something that old, that hasn't been turned on in two and a half decades plugged in for extended periods of time? Or if it would even be safe to plug it in at all? Would the UV bulbs would still be safe after that long? DOn't know much about these things! Thanks

  • Answer:

The wiring may be a problem. Use a fused power plug unit. OR if you can use an autotransformer. It can be dialed from 0 th 140 VAC. If not use a high wattage light dimmer to bring the voltage up slowly.
