If I use a cable splitter to split an outlet between tv and internet do i need a modem in the room?
-
The cable modem for my internet in my house is upstairs, my room where I have my tv and xbox and laptop is downstairs, for some reason this room has always had a horrible wireless connection and we had to have a cable outlet installed in the room so I could put my tv in here. My xbox and my laptop still get horrible connection, if I buy a splitter, will I need a model or a router in my room or can I just get a phonewire and connect that to the splitter and then to the xbox so I can have a hardwired connection?

Answer:
You need only one modem per house. You can use poweline or Moca netwoking extenders, or run Ethernet cables from the router upstairs to your devices downstairs.
