Why won't my Ipod Touch 2g Turn off when connected to computer?

Okay, so I'm trying to Jailbreak my Ipod. But i need to get it into DFU Mode. And it says turn of Ipod Touch while its connected. I do that. It then reboots. Is there a way to make it NOT automatically?
