How to get rid of 'surround sound' in headphones?

How to get "in game" sound on headphones for PS3?

  • I would like to get some headphones for playing PS3 that will play the "in game" sound and the mic chat output sound at the same time (i know I can change mic output on the ps3)... because I play loud and late (don't need a mic since I use a blue tooth for mic chat input). I currently have my headphones plugged into an old surround sound system, but I want to get rid of that because it's huge and all it's used for is to connect my headphones to. There has got to be an easier way... more like a directly connected headphone. I've seen people use USB soundcards, but that only works for mic chat sound not in game sound right???? My TV does not have 3.5mm audio output. I tried to connect my headphones directly to my TV's audio output through an RCA to 3.5mm adapter, BUT as you probably already knew... that didn't work to good. Sound was whisper quiet. I'm guessing I need some type of receiver or something. I need help. P.S. I am using a WESTINGHOUSE 1080p LVM-37w3 tv/monitor Willing to spend some cash on a good pair of Headphones $50-$180

  • Answer:

Turtle Beach makes an excellent PS3 headset called the P21. It supports stereo game audio and PSN chat. You can get more information at www.Turtlebeach.com.
