Dish network remote not working for receiver?

I need to rewire DVD/VCR player back to TV after DISH Network unhooked it. How?

  • Hello! Nice to meet you. Now, I have a situation on my hands that it very frustrating and I would like to resolve it immediately. So, here it is: I was staying with my parents for a short while due to family issues, and they got DISH because they like to be modern. So, after battling with Direct TV and DISH Network, a few trees getting cut down to get a shot at the satellite, and several grueling hours later, we are set!!!! Now, they have already came out to replace a bad connection in the stand the DISH was connected to, and we still have SEVERE connection loss. However, that is a story for another time. My current problem is that when they connected the receiver, they completely disconnected the DVD/VCR combo player we had plugged it. Basically, I need just a general overview on how to connect it back. Obviously, the crappers didn't look for another way and disregarded our setup by just removing the connection and using the direct way instead of working around it. I have an RF modulator if that helps. Basically, I don't know diddly squat about TVs, and it's just an old one. If someone can just give me the basic "problem solving" techniques, I can go forward by myself. I appreciate it if someone can give me SEVERAL options, minus any half-*** answers about calling DISH Network, because I've tried that and they don't know. And the techs don't care. So, yeah. Thanks again for taking the time to read all of this and for the USEFUL answers. Hopefully I can get it working. - Jade Rider

Connect the jacks on the rear of the vcr/dvd either red, white and yellow or red, green, blue, red and white to like colored jacks on the rear of the TV.

Other answers

Attach the wires from the DVD/VCR to the tv the select the corresponding source.

If your TV has a coax input and the player has a coax output you just connect them. Most players like you have also have several color coded outputs called RCA connections, you are looking for combinations of 3 outputs usually red yellow and white. If the TV has inputs that match them you can use them also/instead of. What model player do you have ? Pretty sure I can find a similar hookup on the web. The one at the link ... if you click on the pic the two on the left are coax in and out, the ones on the far bottom right are RCA outputs, yellow is video, the other two are video.
