Why is my VGA component not working?

Will using a component to VGA converter box produce the same results as if i were just using component?

  • my ps2 looks horrible on my new tv. i did some research and found that getting a component connector (the kind with 5 plugs) is whats required to make it look good on a hdtv. im not sure how it works, but it gets rid of the blurryness. the internet is just full of pictures that prove it. anyway... this tv doesn't have connections for component cables. it does however have something called a VGA component connector... which seems to be a VGA connector plus extra composite (yellow and white i beliefe) plugs for audio (so basically it uses VGA for video, composite for audio) from what i understand, there are converter boxes out there that will take component cables and convert it to connect by VGA. my question is, if i were to get one, would it produce the same results as if i were simply using component cables directly attached to the tv? or would it somehow degrade the signal and be no better than the composite cables im already using?

  • Answer:

It will be the same quality as component.
